Different Army Uniforms

Two of the most obvious changes endorsed by the U.S. Army are the new combat and dress uniforms. There are also changes in uniforms worn by the military medical personnel. A tremendous amount of time and money was used in the research and development of the new combat uniform. The Army Program Executive Office performed testing of the new uniforms with soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan and in the United States.
The good news
The layout and organization of the combat uniform was practical; the pockets are more useful and accessible in field gear. Also, the addition of the rough-out boot makes sense. Soldiers coming out of the field are not going to get scolded for having unshined boots. Not surprisingly, no one has complained about not having to shine boots.
The dress blue uniform
The dress blue uniform was the single Class A uniform approved for Army troops in 2008. The transition from the dress green uniforms and the mess-dress white uniforms started in 2008 and by the year 2014, the dress blue uniform is the only approved dress uniform for the U.S. Army.
Why the big change?
The change to one Class A uniform was debated for years. The Army saw it as a way to consolidate the troops. Maintenance issues were a big part of the decision. The dress uniforms are dry clean only, so one dress uniform makes more sense than three.
What is new in military medical uniforms?
The new U.S. Army medical scrubs are practical and reasonably priced, and make the military medics distinctly different looking than civilian medical personnel. Medics have choices they never had before: ACU (blue camouflage) nurse scrubs, peace sign Army (blue camouflage) nurse and vet scrubs and the traditional Army green scrubs.
U.S. Army military clothing has changed to meet the demands of the new military employee. From soldiers to nurses, changes continue to happen to meet the everyday challenges of today's Army personnel.
