Different Marine Uniforms

Among some of most brave me and women of the United States Military, the Marines are some of the best dressed as well. They have many different uniforms, like most branches of the Military, but the Marine's uniforms are among the most distinct.

Dress uniform

The dress uniform that the Marine Corps wears is an elaborate uniform worn for ceremonial and formal occasions. The jacket style of dark blue with red trim has been a style that dates to the 19th century. It is the only Military uniform that incorporates all the colors of the American flag. There are many different styles of the dress uniform. These styles include Blue Dress, Blue-White Dress, Red Dress and Evening Dress.

Service uniform and utility uniform

The service uniforms of the United States Marine Corps are quite different. They incorporate the colors green and khaki. It is equivalent to a business suit. This uniform is worn when making official visits, reporting for duty on United States soil and serving on a court martial. This uniform, as well as the blue dress one, is authorized for wear when off duty. The utility uniform is made in two different colors of camouflage. The "woodland" camouflage is green and brown, while the "desert" one is grey and brown. These uniforms are worn while on duty in the field or at work.

Physical training uniform

During physical training, Marines are required to wear a physical training uniform. There are tracksuits with the Marine emblem, sweatpants with the Marine emblem and nylon shorts with the Marine emblem. Also, during colder weather, a watch cap and gloves are permitted.

Structure is such a huge part of the Military and its branches. The requirement to wear all of these uniforms gives structure and sets rules for the service men and women. They are respected because of this structure and the elegance that their uniforms portray.
